Josh Hall Mourns Longtime Friend Who Died from Cancer: 'The Best Human I've Ever Known'

Josh Hall is mourning the death of his longtime friend Gonzalo Galvez.

In an Instagram post published on Tuesday, August 6, Hall, 43, wrote a sweet tribute to Galvez, who died of cancer, calling him “the best man I’ve ever met.”

“Because he was bad his whole life, he didn’t go out without a fight,” Hall said. “We talked or saw each other every week and every time he faced another setback, he would look me in the eye and say he would never give up or stop fighting.”

“Then we would continue to relive our memories and make more plans for the future…unfortunately, those plans will never come together, but those memories will live on in me forever,” Hall continued.

Hall, who first worked as a police officer before switching to real estate after suffering an injury, said he and Galvez met while working for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Hall’s announcement comes nearly a month after he filed for divorce from his estranged wife Christine Hall, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The two have been married for nearly three years and were recently set to star in an upcoming HGTV series Flip Off with Christina’s ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and Tarek’s wife, Heather Rae. Multiple sources have confirmed to PEOPLE that the trio has continued filming the series without Josh.

Earlier this month, Hall asked for privacy as he spoke about his divorce for the first time.
