Josh Peck was almost a member of the Cullen family!
The Drake & Josh The alum, 36, revealed on his episode on Monday Good guys podcast, with Twilight alum Taylor Lautner as a guest, that he once came “close” to playing Edward Cullen in the blockbuster vampire saga, only to lose the role to Robert Pattinson.
“I remember it being like 2006? 7?” Peck recalled Lautner, 31, and co-host Ben Soffer. “They say, ‘Audition for this movie, Twilight. It’s based on a book — it’s going to be great.’ So I’m sending my tape… for Edward.”
“A month later, I’m with my manager. He says, ‘It’s all about you and the three guys. You’re close,'” he added. “I’m like [surprised], ‘Really?’ I haven’t even tightened my tummy yet! I said, ‘No way. It must be like that without a shirt. That’s not going to happen.’ ”

“Spoiler alert — I didn’t get it,” Peck joked as Lautner and Soffer laughed.
Pattinson, of course, would play Edward in all five Twilight films from 2008 to 2012, alongside Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Lautner as the werewolf Jacob Black.
Peck recalled that when he saw Pattinson, 37, as Edward in the movies, “I thought, ‘What the hell kind of world were they in, ‘Okay, here’s what we mean: Chris Hemsworth or Stanley Tucci?’ Like what the fuck? Impossible!”
“It’s amazing,” Lautner said of Peck’s audition. “I didn’t know that. Shit.”
Cult roles that were ‘almost’ played by someone else
Last year, Stewart, 33, opened up about the 10th anniversary of the film series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling series, which ended with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 in 2012,
During the interview with Party tonightthe actress said she had “no idea” the series had undergone such a revival on Netflix.
“This is great!” she said. “I saw it was on Netflix; I was watching it [it]. It’s strange, it seems incredibly far away and it’s still not that far away from me.”
Stewart added that the anniversary made her realize, “I’m old, my God.”
“Now it’s like, wow, I have to go to my high school anniversary already,” she continued. “It’s work. I think it’s amazing.”
