Turner-Smith filed for divorce from the actor on Sunday after more than four years of marriage. The Queen & Slim the actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the legal basis for their divorce.
The couple married in 2019 and share one daughter, Juno Rose Diana Jackson, who was born in April 2020. Turner-Smith asked the court to grant the former couple joint custody of their 3-year-old, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The Sexual education star also asked that neither party receive spousal support and that Jackson pay her legal fees. While the “exact nature and extent” of the duo’s separate and joint assets are currently unknown to the actress, she asked the court to allow her to “amend” her filing once those details are established.

Ahead of Turner-Smith’s October 1 filing, the pair were seen together on multiple occasions throughout September. On September 9, Jackson celebrated the British model’s 37th birthday in New York.
However, the actress’ birthday Instagram post included a carousel of partygoers, with Jackson noticeably absent from the photos.
“As I enter another new year, I can’t help but meditate on love and its many manifestations,” she captioned the post. “Love is not some lofty unattainable thing. love is a gesture, a look, an intention. love is community. love appears.”
The post ended with the actress thanking those near and far, writing, “Thank you to all of you who showed up for me this week in New York – in spirit and in body. I don’t take any of this for granted, and most of all, I don’t take any of you for granted.”

In the divorce filing obtained by PEOPLE, Turner-Smith listed Sept. 13 as the day she separated from Jackson. Two weeks after the split date, Turner-Smith went solo to the Albie Awards hosted by George Clooney at the New York Public Library on September 28.

During the performance at Late Night with Seth Meyersself-proclaimed Dawson’s Creek a fan revealed to Meyers that the couple first met at Usher’s 40th birthday party in 2018.
A year later, in August 2019, Jackson and Turner-Smith fueled rumors of an imminent wedding when they showed up to pick up their wedding license in Beverly Hills, California. PEOPLE later confirmed that the couple married in December 2019.
“When I first met my husband, we had a one-night stand,” Turner-Smith told Seth Meyers in 2021. “Now we’re in a one-night stand that’s been going on for two, three years.”
This was the first marriage for both actors.
