Judy Garland gained a reputation as a difficult person during the filming of new projects. In 1950, Garland made a triumphant return in the 1954 sequel. In 1961, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
In 1951 she embarked on a highly successful tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland. In 1956, she was the highest-paid entertainer in Las Vegas, earning $55,000 a week for a four-week engagement.
