Julia Louis-Dreyfus enlisted the help of artificial intelligence for her final acceptance speech — and the results were hilarious.
While the comedian and actress, 62, took the stage at WSJ. Magazine At the Innovator Awards on Wednesday, as the winner of the evening’s entertainment, she revealed that she used ChatGPT to write her speech.
Not only did the AI chatbot confuse “innovator” with “investor,” it also confused Louis-Dreyfus with fellow actress Julia Roberts and incorrectly named Jaws actor Richard Dreyfuss her grandfather.
Beginning her speech, Louis-Dreyfus told the audience at the Museum of Modern Art that Chat GPT asked her to “include some of Julia’s biography to personalize the remarks.”
“That’s exactly what ChatGPT said,” he began Veep star. “Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests and fellow investors, today is a moment of deep gratitude and reflection for me as I accept the great honor of being named Investor of the Year by the Wall Street Journal.”
“As I reflect on this milestone, I am reminded of the unwavering support of my family and the unwavering commitment of my team who have been the driving force behind my investment strategies and my performance in Erin Brockovichforgive me, i Mystic pizza.”

Just at that moment, the smiling crowd started clapping.
Louis-Dreyfus, who wore a black Prada dress with white frill trim to the event in New York, then continued: “In this moment of gratitude, I express my sincere gratitude to all those who have supported and inspired me. I am deeply honored to be in your company and honored to receive this honor.”
“Thank you and once again, thank you for this incredible honor. An honor I share with my grandfather, the star of Richard Dreyfuss Jaws“, added the Emmy-winning star, which drew a lot of laughter from the audience.
After finishing the AI-generated part of the speech, she joked: “Yes, Chat GPT for AI, the people who will soon be driving your car and taking over your job. Innovation!”
“At the end of the day, it’s the people who innovate and entertain, and to be recognized for my small contribution to innovating entertainment is very flattering and wonderful, and I’m incredibly grateful,” added Louis-Dreyfus. “Thank you to the people from The Wall Street Journal and to all of you who came tonight. Thank you very much.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus reflects on how cancer changed her and why she ‘can’t wait to be 83’
During her November cover interview with the publication to mark her naming as Entertainment Innovator of the Year, the Seinfeld star opened up about her health journey and reflected on learning she had stage two breast cancer, a day after winning her sixth consecutive Emmy in September 2017.
Recalling the moment the doctor called her, Louis-Dreyfus revealed that the first thing she did when she hung up the phone was to laugh.
“I mean, it seemed like it was written. It seemed to me like a terrible black comedy,” she said WSJ. “And then it kind of turned into hysterical crying.”
She continued with her diagnosis: “You just don’t consider it for yourself, you know, that’s the kind of arrogance of human beings. But of course, at some point, we’re all going to bite it.”

Louis-Dreyfus announced she was cancer-free in October 2018 after six rounds of chemotherapy and a double mastectomy.
