Julia Roberts Says Her Twins, 19, ‘Still Allow Me to Be the Same Mom to Them’ After Becoming Adults

Julia Roberts’ older children still let her parent raise them — even though they’re grown.

While appearing on Monday’s episode Todayhost Hoda Kotb (59) talked to Julia Roberts (56) and Mahershala Ali (49) about their new film Leave the world behind. As they talked about their families, Roberts was asked how she deals with her children’s technology in the house.

“So for us, we just had kind of simple rules where we had a charging station where everybody’s phones went when you got home. There’s definitely no phone at the table,” Roberts told Kotb and Ali.

Julia Roberts shares rare photo of her twins as they turn 19: ‘There are no words for joy’

Saying that Roberts’ 19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus are in college and will soon be joined by son Henry, 16, Kotb asked how the actress is raising her grown children.

“I raise them the same way I parent them at home, which is ‘Are you getting enough sleep? You sound like you’re sick, are you drinking enough tea? Text me when you get home. I can see you’re home alive and well ‘ said the caring mother.

“And I appreciate both of my older kids immensely because they still let me be the same mom to them and it’s not an eye roll. There’s a tremendous amount of understanding.”

“Is it a different discomfort, you leaving and traveling for work and all that? Compared to them leaving and going to college?” Ali asked.

“Yeah. And it’s funny that I’m away now,” Roberts said. “And so Henry and Danny are at home and I’m in another time zone and then Phinn is somewhere and Hazel is somewhere and we were all on FaceTime the other day — together, all of us.”

“And it was so much fun, I might have had a towel on my wet head. We were all so happy to be together like that that we’re still so deeply in love.”

In November, the star looked back on her two older children growing up as she celebrated their 19th birthdays with a rare keepsake photo.

Roberts shared a black and white photo of Hazel and Phinnaeus sitting on her lap as infants, writing “✨✨19✨✨ There are no words for the joy, the fun, the wild commotion of life together 💕” in the caption.
