British documentary maker Tim Samuels profiled Blanc’s course in his documentary “Searching for Real Men.” In the documentary, he explains Blanc’s seminar as:
In a classroom, in a hotel, a hundred, two hundred people start taking notes, with Blank in front, like a rock star guru, and people hang on to every word and usually get pretty practical pop psychology tips for telling How they take notes. Approaching women, what conversations to have, how to project your alpha male presence, and a sense of confidence. ”
Blank toured seminars on behalf of the RSD and was widely criticized for his actions, posts and videos.

dispute
#TakeDownJulienBlanc
In November 2014, activist Jennifer Li launched a campaign called #TakeDownJulienBlanc. Her aim was to stop Blank from spreading his views that were considered racist and misogynistic, especially since he was a presenter of seminars and workshops. In September 2014, Blanc faced backlash after uploading a video of his trip to Tokyo on his YouTube channel, but he deleted the video after receiving criticism. RSD co-founder Owen Cook commented that the video of Blanc’s trip was “taken out of context” and was released to shock. The statement he made that he most strongly disagreed with was:
Just grab her… To relieve stress, yell something like Pikachu or Pokemon or Tamagotchi. At least in Tokyo, if you’re white, you can do whatever you want. ”
Blank also posted photos of him assaulting women, using the hashtag #ChokingGirlsAroundTheWorld. Jennifer Li’s hashtag went viral on Twitter, with over 50,000 mentions in the first week. Blank began to receive backlash for charging high fees for his seminars and promoting emotional abuse and physical violence against women. He has been criticized for promoting domestic violence as a temptation. After the hashtag became famous, the well-known hacktivist (radical hacker) group Anonymous called for a ban on pick-up seminars like the one hosted by Blank. This brought more opposition to Blanc. Anonymous posted asking people to protest Blank, report his videos, and called on authorities to ban his visa and seminars. Blanc has been denied visas in Australia, Brazil, the UK, Singapore, Japan and South Korea due to the #TakeDownJulienBlanc campaign. Ten venues and online platforms also refused to host him or his company, Real Social Dynamics. He came to be known as “the most hated man in the world.”
Online petition against Blank
The first petition on Change.org, created in 2014, accused Julien Blanc of promoting “violence and emotional abuse against women.” Thousands of people signed the petition, which led to Australia revoking Blanc’s visa application to hold a seminar in Melbourne. Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom and Brazil have also petitioned to prevent Blanc from holding the seminar, with the total number of signatures on all petitions exceeding 300,000. His comments were seen as promoting sexual harassment and assault and were criticized by groups such as the Alliance to End Violence Against Women. Blank apologized for his behavior in a November 2014 interview with CNN. He said,
I just want to apologize to anyone I’ve offended in any way. This was never my intention, I just wanted to put it out there… I’m so sorry. Like, I feel terrible. I wouldn’t be happy if I felt like the most annoying person in the world. I was overwhelmed by the way people reacted. ”
In his apology, he also disagreed with accusations that he promoted emotional and physical violence against women. He said his videos and comments were “horrible, horrific attempts at humor.”
When asked about a post Blank made that included a picture explaining how to abuse women, he said the post was not representative of what he teaches in classes and seminars and that he posted the picture. To laugh at it. Responding to criticism for his post, which was hashtagged #ChokingGirlsAroundTheWorld, Blank said he was not hurting any women and that the post was just a joke he wanted to make.
