Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford tour New York City!
The actress, 22, and her supermodel mother, 57, attended the 74th National Book Awards at Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday. Posing together before heading into the hall, Gerber and Crawford complemented each other with neutral-toned wardrobes.
The bottom talent looked chic in a strapless brown floor-length dress. The top of her outfit looked like a leather bracelet, while the rest of her dress looked like suede.

Crawford kept it classic with an ivory pantsuit and matching silk blouse. She accessorized with an ivory Ralph Lauren clutch bag and a subtle pop of color with pewter open-toe heels.
Writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, translated literature, and literature for young adults are recognized at the annual event.
The host of this year’s ceremony is actor, director, producer and podcaster LeVar Burton. The Reading the Rainbow host was named as Drew Barrymore’s replacement in mid-October. Oprah Winfrey was honored as a special guest.

The event was also attended by Kerry Washington, Emma Roberts and Karah Preiss.
On Crawford’s Instagram Stories, she shared a photo of a stack of books on a table with a floral arrangement. “#NationalBookAwards,” she captioned the picture with book emojis, hearts and peeping eyes.
According to the organization’s website, their mission is to celebrate “the best literature published in the United States, expanding its audience and ensuring that books have a prominent place in our culture.”

Gerber and her mother also attended the event the night before in the Big Apple.
Crawford and Gerber coordinated in black for the Planet OMEGA Fashion Panel and Cocktail Party.
“In case you’re wondering, she has longer legs than me,” Super models the star said, mentioning her daughter’s height as she pointed to Gerber as the crowd laughed.

PEOPLE caught up with the mother-daughter duo at an event where Gerber discussed which of her mom’s iconic looks she would love to recreate.
After noticing that there were “so many” options to choose from, she narrowed it down to one that stood out to her.

“The red Oscar dress I always thought was so beautiful,” she said, referring to the stunning low-back Versace gown Crawford wore to the 1991 Oscars when she was married to Richard Gere.
She also mentioned a pop-culture moment from her mother’s 1992 Pepsi commercial, but ultimately decided to leave the classic look to Crawford.
“But it’s like some things are so good you don’t even want to touch them,” Gerber continued. “And I think in some of those moments I just say, ‘Leave them there,’ you know?”
