Kaia Gerber pays tribute to her mom Cindy Crawford in a big way.
The 23-year-old model and actress stepped out in a very famous dress for the premiere of her film at the Toronto Film Festival on Thursday, September 12 Shell. Per Voguethe white Hervé Leger bodycon dress was a recreation of Crawford’s memorable look by the same French fashion house at the 1993 Oscars, courtesy of Gerber stylist Molly Dickinson.
“Kaia sent me a mood board for TIFF and this was one of her references,” Dickson told the news outlet. “I thought it would be amazing to honor Cindy’s iconic moment.”
Crawford (58) attended the Oscars in 1993 together with actor Richard Gere, to whom she was then married. As the supermodel did on the red carpet, Gerber paired the dress, made from Hervé Leger’s signature wrap material, with white pointed-toe heels. According to Vogueshe also accessorized with vintage diamond jewelry and a vintage Omega watch from her mom’s personal collection.

Dickinson, whose other clients include stars like Sydney Sweeney, Sadie Sink and Bella Hadid, shared the inspiration behind Gerbera’s look on Instagram Stories. “Just wait guys…” she wrote above a photo of Crawford at the 1993 Oscars.

In the next slide, Dickinson shared a photo of Gerber in a recreation of Hervé Leger.

Recently, Gerber has been opting more and more for archival fashion. At the TIFF premiere of the film Saturday night on Tuesday, September 10, the star wore a vintage Donna Karan dress from 2003, po W magazine. The daring ensemble featured a plunging neckline and an open back.
This year has been full of show-stopping fashion moments for Gerber. While in Paris for the Summer Olympics, she and her supermodel mom wore coordinating LBDs to the Omega House Paris 2024 opening night.

At the Met Gala in May, the model-actress wowed in a strapless, floor-length Prada gown with large sequins. Namely, her voluminous hairstyle was reminiscent of Crawford’s look from the 90s.
Gerber made her debut at the fashion event a year ago in a strapless black dress with appliqués on the chest and a structured skirt that she said was an homage to Bianca Jagger.
