Kaikala Satyanarayana (1935-2022) was a veteran Indian actor, film producer and politician, primarily in the Telugu film industry. He served as the Member of Parliament from Machilipatnam constituency in the 11th Lok Sabha. Kaikala Satyanarayana is considered one of the most prolific actors in Telugu cinema, having appeared in more than 750 films in her career of over six decades. Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away on December 23, 2022, at her Jubilee Hills residence in Hyderabad, Telangana due to health-related issues.

Kaikala Satyanarayana was discovered by film producer DL Narayana, who offered him a role in the Telugu film Supayi Koothuru in 1959; the film marked Kaikala’s acting debut. Although the film did not perform well at the box office, Kekara gained attention due to his striking resemblance in height and physique to NTR. In 1960, NT Rama Rao invited Kekara to play the role of a prince in the Telugu film Sahasra Siracheda Apoorva Chinthamani. Later, Satyanarayana played the role of NT Rama Rao’s con man in many Telugu films. Kekara made his acting debut in the 1963 Kannada film Swarna Gowri, in which he played the role of Lord Parameshwara. He subsequently appeared in Telugu films Sri Krishnarjuna Yudham (1963), Pandava Vanavasam (1965), Paramanandyya Sishyula Katha (1967) and Bhale Rangadu (1969).
He made his Hindi film debut in 1977 with the film Shri Ram Vanvas. Some of his Hindi films include Karma (1986) and Ghayal Sherni (1988). In 2002, he made his debut in the Tamil film Panchatanthiram, playing the role of Reddy. He first played a negative role in the Telugu film Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima. He played the role so perfectly that he received many offers to play negative roles in several films. During his six-year film career, Kekara appeared in many super hit films including Narthanasala (1963), Yamagola (1975), Adavi Ramudu (1977), Daana Veera Soora Karna (1977), Kondaveeti Simham (1981), Subhalekha (1982) , Bobili Bramana (1984), Nari Nari Naduma Mulali (1990), Gang Leader (1991), President Gary Peram (1992) and Mulali Lee (2001).
He was last seen in the Telugu film Maharshi (2019), in which he played Pooja’s grandfather. The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role.

Kaikala Satyanarayana passed away at around 4 am on December 23, 2022, at his Jubilee Hills residence in Hyderabad, Telangana, after a brief illness. On December 23, his body was put on display at his residence. According to Kekara’s family, his last rites will be performed on December 24, 2022 at the Mahaprasthanam Crematorium in Jubilee Hills. In October 2021, he was sent to the hospital after falling at his residence. In November 2021, he was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad after complaining of breathing difficulties. His condition is said to be critical and he requires respiratory support. There are also rumors that Kaikala Satyanarayana has passed away. Rama Devi (daughter of Kekara Satyanarayana) condemned rumors about Kekara’s death and said her father was recovering. She also asked the media not to publish false news. Ramadevi said,
