Kailyn Lowry Says She’s Considering Getting ‘Ozempic Shots’ After Giving Birth to Twins

Kailyn Lowry gets candid about “how hard it is to lose weight as an adult.”

The pregnant podcast host, 31, made the revelation during her new episode Baby Mamas No drama podcast with co-host Vee Rivera to consider using weight loss drugs after giving birth to her twins.

“How hard it is to lose weight as an adult, fuck you. I’m scared,” Lowry said. “I’m ready for 2024 because I need to get Ozempic shots or something.”

Ozempic is an FDA-approved prescription drug for people with type 2 diabetes. It’s one of the brand names for semaglutide — also known as Wegovy and Mounjaro. Over the past year, Ozempic has skyrocketed in popularity in Hollywood and beyond as more people turn to these drugs for occasional weight loss.

Lowry, who added that “mommy makeup” was “the best decision I ever made,” is already a mother of five.

She shares 13-year-old Isaac with high school boyfriend Joe Rivera, 10-year-old Lincoln with ex-husband Javi Marroquin, 6-year-old Lux and 3-year-old Creed with ex Chris Lopez and 1-year-old Rio with boyfriend Elijah Scott. In October 2023, she announced that she and Scott are expecting twins, a girl and a boy.

Lowry isn’t the first celebrity to discuss taking Ozempic for weight loss during pregnancy, as Stassi Schroeder did the same in June on an episode of Call her dad podcast. During the discussion, Schroeder revealed that she considered taking it after her first pregnancy because she was “eating bone broth for dinner for six freaking months after I gave birth.”

Meghan McCain also previously wrote that she was being “persuaded” to start taking Ozempic to “melt off the baby weight” in 2023.

Last year, Ania Jastreboff, MD, PhD, told PEOPLE that semaglutides like Ozempic work in the brain and “mimicking those hormones that are released from our gut and our pancreas when we eat and then affect different tissues in our body” — ultimately creating patients feel full before eating.

“Still, let me tell you why. I stayed the hell away from it until I got pregnant with Lux.”

“I was in the gym 5 days a week. If you’re going to have plastic surgery, you have to maintain it,” Lowry added. “If you’re going to get plastic surgery for your body, your mom’s makeup, or whatever, that’s a jumpstart to a lifestyle change.”

“I don’t know if I would have the same results just because you have to be under 31 BMI, so I would have to lose the wait before even considering [myself] for that. Because complications increase when you’re overweight.”

She added that as far as future surgery plans go, she eventually intends to have a breast reduction “no matter what.”
