Karam Brown’s children, Jason and Christian, have changed his life for the better.

Over time, Karamo became close to Brooks’ other son, Christian, and helped him thrive by taking him into his home. Karamo formally adopted Christian in 2010, and the family moved to Los Angeles in 2011, per Advocate.

After the reality star took a break from television to focus on parenting and social work, Christian inspired Karamo to return to his passion.

Jason “Rachel” Brown was born on November 27, 1996 and grew up in Houston, Texas, the first part of his childhood with his mother, Brooks.

After Karamo found court documents that revealed he was Jason’s father, he arranged to meet his son, and it wasn’t without fear of the unknown.

“A little voice in my head was saying, Karamo, you don’t have to do that“, he wrote in his memoirs. “You are a child and you should go there and raise a child? Save a life. At the same time, I thought, What if he needs me?”

In February 2019, Karamo told PEOPLE that while he was “scared,” parenting Jason was the best choice he could have made. “There’s something about the first moment you see your child. Brooks welcomed Christian Brown in March 2000, according to Jason’s 2018 Instagram post wishing his brother a happy 18th birthday.
