Karan Malhotra is an Indian film director, author and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the Hindi film Agneepath (2012), starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt.

Karan began his career as a cinematographer in the early 1990s. In 2000, he made his debut as an assistant director in the Hindi film Pukar. His other Hindi films as an assistant director include “Lajja” (2001), “Main Hoon Na” (2004), “Jodhaa Akbar” (2008) and “My Name is Khan” (2010) . He made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the Hindi film Agneepath (2012), for which he won the Zee Cine Award for the Power-Club Box Office Special Award. He has worked as a director in several Hindi films including Brothers (2015) and Shamsheela (2022).
In 2016, he started filming the Hindi film “Shuddhi”. The film is adapted from Amish Tripathi’s book “The Immortality of Meluha”. The producers of the film faced various problems while selecting the cast for the film. Later, the film was shelved.

- In 2022, his Hindi film “Shamshera” was released, but failed miserably at the box office. On July 27, 2022, he shared a post on Instagram about the failure of his film.
In an interview, when asked about his experience working with Indian producer Aditya Chopra, he said:
My first instinct was that I would have a great time working with him. He’s a producer and he owns his movies, whether they do well or not. He was on their side and that was all that mattered. This is very valuable. If you’re a director, he’s a great producer. “
