In 1972, the performer began her career by joining the national production of Godspell. Recently, she was the lead vocalist of the band Orchestra Luna. In 1981, she released her first solo album Is This a Cool World or What? CBS/Epic distributed it.
DeVito was cast as the female lead in Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedy opera “The Pirates of Penzance” on Broadway in 1981. There she met her husband, Robby Benson, who played the male lead opposite her. The singer was also one of MTV’s first video stars. She co-wrote songs with Robby. Her second album, Wake ‘Em Up in Tokyo, was released by A&M in 1986. In 1990, the couple starred in the film Modern Love. After that, DeVito worked as a vocalist. She participated in the albums of other music artists. DeVito has also made numerous cameo appearances in various TV shows and theater productions. Most recently, she was the vocalist for Meat Loaf’s Braver Than We Are.
