Kate Hudson is still cashing in on one of her earliest acting gigs.
In her episode on Monday Joy of brothers and sisters podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Oliver Hudson Knives out star shared stories with guest Joey Lawrence about getting into showbiz as a young child.
Lawrence — who was also joined by brothers Matthew and Andy — told how he had to memorize a long monologue for an audition when he was just 5 years old. He eventually succeeded and booked a Cracker Jack commercial, which led to 50 more national commercials in his first year.
After Kate, 44, asked Lawrence, 47, if he was still getting residuals from any of his old ads, she revealed he was still receiving checks – albeit small ones – for one of his childhood jobs.

“I still get leftovers from Home alone 2 because I sang in the chorus,” she said of the 1992 holiday classic starring Macaulay Culkin. “I’m in that chorus, and then every now and then I get 10 cents.”
Lawrence joked about his equally small payouts. “Sometimes I get, say, 2 cents and I’m like, ‘Wait. Don’t envelopes and paper cost more?’ ”
“At least they’re fair and square,” Kate replied.

Kate and Oliver Hudson Don’t Look at Each Other’s Business: ‘You’ve Seen One… You’ve Seen ‘All’
The Lawrence brothers did not know about Kate’s role Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and said that now they will have to watch the movie again to see her. While Oliver, 47, knew all about her early film moment, the two siblings previously admitted they don’t usually watch each other’s work.
Appearing together on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in January 2022, host Stephen Colbert asked Kate if she watched her brother on his show Cleaning lady, which was broadcast at the time. Oliver immediately replied that Kate doesn’t watch the series, but she said she caught one episode.
“I watched the first one,” she insisted. “I haven’t seen the second episode yet. I watched the episode so far. I watched the first. It’s very good.”

Oliver then assured Colbert, 59, that he wasn’t mad about it. “I will allow it [Kate] “Discovered,” he said. “We don’t watch each other’s stuff. I haven’t — I’ve seen maybe a third of her movies.”
Kate chimed in, teasing: “Or, to tell you the truth, you haven’t seen any of them,” before explaining that “the novelty wears off a bit” in their actor-filled family, which includes their mom Goldie Hawn, stepdad Kurt Russell and half-brother Wyatt Russell.
“There’s so much to do,” she added, before Oliver joked, “You’ve seen one of her movies, you’ve seen them all.”
