Kate Hudson's 6 Siblings: All About Her Brothers and Sisters

Kate Hudson comes from a large, mixed family.

The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery the actress and her brother Oliver Hudson were born to actors Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson in 1979 and 1976, respectively. After Goldie broke up with Bill, she began dating Kurt Russell, who already fathered a son, Boston Russell, with his ex-wife, Season Hubley. Goldie and Kurt had one son together, Wyatt Russell, in 1986.

Bill had three more children after his split from Goldie. He had a son, Zachary, and a daughter, Emily, with his ex-wife, Cindy Williams, and a daughter, Lalania, with his girlfriend, Caroline Graham. However, Kate said she didn’t have a good relationship with her dad’s siblings growing up.

“I had that moment last year where I was like, ‘I don’t know why I don’t talk to my other siblings,'” Kate said in an episode of her and Oliver’s Joy of brothers and sisters podcast in January 2024. “I don’t care what the past is with our parents … I have two sisters that I don’t talk to for anything other than our family being separated.”

From their careers following in their parents’ footsteps to children of their own, here’s everything you need to know about Kate Hudson’s six siblings.

They have a blended family

Kate’s older brother, Oliver, is the oldest of her siblings, born to Goldie and Bill on September 7, 1976. Kate joined the family three years later, on April 19, 1979. Just a year later, Goldie and Bill separated, finalizing divorced their relationship in 1982.

In 1983, Goldie began dating Kurt, who had fathered his son, Boston, three years earlier in 1980. Although Goldie and Kurt never married, they have been together ever since, welcoming their only child, Wyatt, on July 10, 1986.

After splitting from Goldie, Bill married his now ex-wife Cindy Williams in 1982, and the couple had two children together: Emily, born the same year, and Zachary, who was born in 1986.

Bill and Cindy divorced in 2000, and the former singer of The Hudson Brothers had another child, Lalani, with his girlfriend Caroline Graham in 2006.

Like their parents, Kate, Oliver and Wyatt had successful acting careers. Oliver has starred in several widely acclaimed TV shows including Rules of engagement, Nashville, Dawson’s Creek, Cleaning lady and recently, And just like that.

Similarly, Kate became a movie magnet in the early moments. She got her breakout role as Penny Lane in the 2000 film Almost famous, which won her a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. She is also known for acting in How to lose a guy in 10 days, Fool’s gold, Bride wars and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Wyatt tried his hand at both television and film. His comedy performances in 22 Jump Street and Table 19 put it on the map; but it was Disney’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which brought him to TV fame. He recently collaborated with his father on the sci-fi series Apple TV+ Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Although Boston lives a private life out of the spotlight, he occasionally makes red carpet appearances to support his famous parents and siblings. Bill’s three children, however, have largely avoided the limelight, choosing to live far from the public eye.

Kate and Oliver have a podcast together

In 2019, the brother-sister duo launched their own aptly named podcast Brother and sister joy. Along with a behind-the-scenes video montage of season one’s esteemed guests, Kate wrote on Instagram that her “big hope” is to “inspire people to understand their differences with siblings and family and always move towards greater closeness and connection because that’s what we need more in this world.”

In his post, Oliver noted that the podcast was equally rewarding in their relationship. “I knew we were going to have fun and laugh and give each other s— but I didn’t realize how important that would be to OUR relationship,” he wrote on Instagram. “Being able to talk about the past and how we grew up and what we meant to each other gave me a deeper understanding of US, as brothers and sisters, as best friends, as parents. Every time we sit down and get into it I learn something new!”

Wyatt’s acting skills were put to the test when he starred alongside his father in the AppleTV+ series that expanded the Godzilla universe. IN Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, two siblings follow “in their father’s footsteps to discover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch,” according to the series synopsis. Kurt and Wyatt portrayed the same character at different times.

“We were given the opportunity to play the same person, as opposed to father and son, so we started pushing it and saying, ‘Let’s make this good!’ ” Kurt told Entertainment Tonight in November 2023 during an interview with Wyatt.

Wyatt added that it was more interesting to explore their dynamic playing the same person, rather than a father-son duo.

“[Playing] father and son are like low-hanging fruit,” he told the newspaper. “And we’ve never been people, genetically, to choose low-hanging fruit. It was just never interesting [for me]never been interesting in his career.”

Kate, Oliver and Wyatt have eight children together

Kate, Oliver and Wyatt are all busy raising their own families. Oliver and his wife Erinn Barlett, whom he married in 2006, have sons Wilder Brooks and Bodhi Hawn and a daughter Ria Laura.

Kate also has two sons and a daughter. She and her ex-husband, Chris Robinson, had a son, Ryder Robinson, in 2004. He became a big brother in 2011 with the addition of Bingham Hawn Bellamy, who Kate shares with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy. In 2018, Kate gave birth to a daughter, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, whose father is Danny Fujikawa. Kate and Danny have been engaged since 2021.

Following their western-themed wedding in 2019, Wyatt and actress Meredith Hagner welcomed a son, Buddy Prine Russell, in 2021. The couple expanded their family with the birth of their second child, Boone Joseph, in February 2024.

In her 2023 Diversity Cover story, Goldie shared the wisdom she wants to pass on to her eight grandchildren. “You have to work for a living, stay compassionate and realistic,” she said. “And I pass it on because that’s what my father taught me: Stay in reality. Don’t let everything take you away.”

“The rest is up to them,” Goldie continued. “Being there for them and knowing that they’re going to have to work things out on their own, no matter how hard it is.”

Kate became close again with Bill’s children

The Bride wars The actress may not have grown up close to Emily, Zachary or Lalania — all of whom lived their lives out of the public eye — but now she’s reconnecting with them, she revealed on Brother and sister joy.

“My sister, me and my brother just started communicating again,” she said. “And honestly, I was talking to my sister and we just started staring. It was so great.”

“[My sister] he even said. We start now. We start now,” she said of their reconciliation.
