Kate Middleton and Prince William are back at work after a short break while Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were on school holidays.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, jetted out to Scotland on Thursday to meet with organizations supporting rural communities in Moray. It was Prince William and Princess Kate’s first joint engagement in three weeks, as they scaled back their royal schedules to spend more time with George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, during their children’s term at Lambrook School.
The pair matched in green jackets, both adorned with a red poppy pin. Every November, red floral accessories become part of the royal family’s wardrobe. The poppy has been used since 1921 to commemorate the members of the army who died in wars. The red flower is primarily associated with Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries for Remembrance Day on 11 November.

Prince William and Princess Kate traveled to learn more about how local groups are supporting young people’s mental health through access to nature and hands-on learning opportunities, starting with Outfit Moray in Burghead. The charity works to develop the potential of young people through accessible outdoor learning and adventure, encouraging life skills and improving general health. Outfit Moray is dedicated to helping vulnerable or neglected young people aged between 8 and 18 and has worked with over 16,000 young people since it was founded in 2003.
Confidence-building activities include mountain biking, rowing, rock climbing, archery and bushcraft, and the group also runs school programs such as bike training, bike maintenance and first aid.

The couple – who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay during their time in Scotland – met the Outfit Moray team at Burghead Primary School, where they learned more about outdoor sports and watched a mountain biking session, with Kate and William wearing sports helmets as went for a ride on the track.
The royals also saw some of the school’s programs and connected with people who have benefited from taking part in Outdoor Moray.
Mental health is a key focus of The Royal Foundation, the charity behind William and Kate’s not-for-profit work. The couple memorably launched the Heads Together campaign through the Royal Foundation with Prince Harry in 2016 to break down the stigma around talking and help with mental health, and have continued to raise awareness of the issue ever since.

Early childhood and childhood development have also become an increasingly visible part of Princess Kate’s public work (such as her solo outing with the band “Dadvengers” on Wednesday!), making the Outfit Moray stop a natural fit.

From there, the Prince and Princess of Wales will move to nearby Brodieshill Farm to meet members of the Lower Speyside Young Farmers and representatives from Farmstrong Scotland. At the family farm, William and Kate will hear about efforts to improve support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
Both Lower Speyside Young Farmers and Farmstrong Scotland promote mental health in rural Scottish communities and provide resources for farmers, with different targeted focuses. The group of young farmers is open to those aged 14 to 29 and creates opportunities for socializing in the fight against isolation.
Young farmers from Lower Speyside recently took part in the Scottish Association of Young Farmers’ Clubs’ Are Sheep OK campaign to encourage more conversation about mental health and break down taboos around the topic.

Meanwhile, Farmstrong Scotland is dedicated to the welfare of adult farmers and rural communities. Its programs aim to promote mental and physical health, in favor of helping local businesses thrive.
Prince William and Princess Kate will also get the chance to meet the families at Brodieshill Farm who are attending meetings at the farm’s playground. The specialist space has been designed to bring children and parents together while fostering a sense of community, welcoming families from the nearby bases of RAF Kinloss and RAF Lossiemouth.
The couple have a special connection with the Royal Air Force, as Prince William flew as an RAF search and rescue pilot based at RAF Valley in Anglesey, Wales, from 2010 to 2013. The prince’s RAF service overlapped with additional special chapter in his personal life, as he married Kate in 2011 and they welcomed Prince George in 2013. In a series of new military appointments made over the summer, King Charles appointed his eldest son Air Force Commander and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Valley — where he previously flew as a pilot. Strengthening the family’s connection with the branch, Princess Kate was appointed Chief Commodore of the Fleet Air Arm and Royal Honorary Commodore of the Royal Air Force Coningsby in the same sweep.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will end their trip to Scotland on Thursday with a DAY 1 visit to Inverness. The charity offers mentoring, training, personal development and careers advice to vulnerable young people. DAY1 also runs Inverness Kart Raceway, which is also the hub of its automotive skills apprenticeship programme. There, William and Kate will take a tour and meet the young people involved before taking a look at the car workshops — and maybe even catch a race!
Before Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay were last in Scotland for the second coronation celebration in honor of King Charles and Queen Camilla on July 5.
