KATE Middleton and Prince William will reportedly skip this year’s Christmas lunch with King Charles, but the controversial royal will attend.
After a difficult year for the Prince and Princess of Wales, they are looking forward to Christmas and spending time with the Royal Family.

Princess Kate, 42, and Prince William, 42, will attend the main Christmas service at St Mary Magdalene on Sandringham Estate.
But according to royal commentator Emily Andrews, the couple are hoping to see the Middletons for Christmas dinner this year.
Writing in her column in Woman, Emily claimed: “They prefer the informality of a relaxed lunch at nearby Anmer Hall.
“I understand I will be doing that this year, with the addition of the Middleton family.”
After Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, leave school in mid-December, it is thought the family will head to Norfolk.
Anmer Hall is their haven, and after Kate’s cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy and continued recovery, this festive period is likely to be more special than most.
Traditionally, Christmas for the royal family is held at Sandringham House.
On Christmas Eve, a black night is held where gifts are exchanged.
Then on Christmas morning there are one or two visits to the church, followed by lunch and the monarch’s speech.
King Charles, 76, has largely stuck to this tradition – although Queen Camilla, 77, has also started urging her family to stay.
Princess Kate’s world has come crashing down – but I know one thing that has been a huge comfort to her
This year was not only difficult for the Waleses, but also for Kate’s parents, Carole (69) and Michael Middleton (75).
The Middletons have reportedly stepped up their support for their daughter during her cancer treatment at her home in Windsor.

Emily claimed: “So a festive, merry Middleton Christmas with all the trimmings will be just the ticket.
“Also likely to be Kate’s sister Pippa, her husband James Matthews and children Arthur, six, Grace, three and Rose, two, along with her brother James Middleton, his wife Alizée and son Inigo, one.”
Inside the royal family’s extravagant Christmas celebrations
SARAH Hewson, royal editor at Talk TV, said the royal family usually gathers on Christmas Eve to kick off the celebrations.
She added: “The little royals – George, Charlotte and Louis and Camilla’s grandchildren – will help finish decorating the tree.
“Then the royal family and all their guests will place their gifts on the red drawing room table and open them at tea time, which is a German tradition introduced by Prince Albert.
“And contrary to what we might expect when you think of a royal Christmas, there are no diamonds under the pine.
“They actually give funny gifts – Kate once gave Harry a Grow Your Own girlfriend when he was single, and apparently Meghan’s gift to the Queen for her first Christmas at Sandringham included a singing hamster.
But while it is claimed that the Welsh are not expected at the ‘Big House’ lunch, it has been reported that disgraced Prince Andrew, 64, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 65, will be in attendance.
Despite his current feud with King Charles, the ‘defiant’ Duke of York is believed to have been given an invite to the Sandringham festivities.
‘There is no turning back for Prince Andrew,’ claims the PR guru
PRINCE Andrew’s reputation has been irreparably damaged and he will never be able to return to public life, claims one of Britain’s top PR gurus.
Brand and culture expert Nick Ede, who runs PR agency East of Eden, called the disgraced royal “deluded” for thinking he could ever return to royal duties and urged him to give it up and ‘enjoy his life’ in exile.
It follows the release of Scoop – a Netflix film based on an interview he gave to Newsnight in 2019.
Nick said: “There is no going back for him.
“I think you know that constant idea that you might still come back. Nobody cares. He has no fans.
“There is no one who says ‘We want to see Prince Andrew’, not one person. I think he needs to understand that. But I think it will take him a long, long time to figure it out. This is very misleading.
“In my opinion, the best thing he could do is just enjoy his life. He has beautiful daughters. He has a great relationship with Fergie, he has a nice house.
“Just live a peaceful life.”
Reflecting on the interview five years ago – the fallout of which led to Andrew stepping back from royal duties “for the foreseeable future” – Nick compared the fallout to Frost v Nixon and said he would encourage him not to.
He said: “If I had advised him, I would have said, shut up, shut up, just go to the ground. You know you’re a prince. Enjoy the life you lead, but don’t open this can of worms, because that’s it.
“There was no acknowledgment that a relationship with someone like Epstein was terribly toxic. There was no idea that there were a bunch of human trafficking victims whose lives had been completely destroyed by Epstein. He didn’t seem to think that the association he had with the man was anything but positive.
“I think his worst gaffe was obviously being in that interview and agreeing to it in the first place, because he didn’t realize that he was actually going to be interviewed by a very, very good journalist who was going to ask him questions that he might not like. .
“But I think what this has done is really show how archaic Prince Andrew is in his opinions and thoughts.
“Read the room. He never read the room at all.”
But this December will be a bit different for the royal family, as Emily said: “Charles is still being treated for cancer so Christmas in the ‘Big House’ could be quieter.
“Friends say the extended royal family who were invited to Sandringham last year – including Prince Andrew and his family and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson – are waiting to see how Charles’ health holds up in the coming weeks, but hope you all go.”
