Katherine Schwarzenegger Throws Shade at the Met Gala

Katherine Schwarzenegger doesn’t seem to be a fan of some recent Met Gala looks.

In an expired Instagram Stories post, The New York Times the bestselling author, 34, expressed her opinion on how times have changed.

After the annual event on Monday, May 6, Schwarzenegger re-shared a photo that her mother, Maria Shriver, posted on an Instagram carousel. The broadcast was a summary of the year Shriver attended the gala.

“When the Met Gala was chic and classy,” Schwarzenegger added above the image.

“It’s the first Monday in May and the Met Gala is underway! Things were a little more low-key when I attended back in 2001, but I thought I’d share some photos from that beautiful night,” Shriver, 68, began in her caption.

The year she attended, the former first lady of California wore a lavender boat-neck dress with a matching sheer scarf.

“Not only did I get to wear this beautiful dress, but I got to attend with both of my parents as well as my cousin, Caroline. What do you think: Would we wear the same look on the red carpet tonight? #metgalaflashback,” Shriver concluded.

The Met Gala was founded in 1948, according to WWD, to raise funds for the Costume Institute and mark the opening of its annual exhibition. According to CNN, the first time the event saw a theme was in 1973 for “The World of Balenciaga” – a nod to designer Cristóbal Balenciaga.

Monday’s theme followed the dress code, “The Garden in Time,” which was based on the theme of the Costume Institute exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: The Reawakening of Fashion.”

Co-chairs of the evening were Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny. More than 160 celebrities walked the red carpet.

Other notable looks of the night included Doja Cat, who arrived in an oversized white T-shirt with the illusion of being drenched and see-through thanks to hair gel.

“I know people were going to do flowers, so my flower of choice was the most commonly used flower and it’s cotton, so I wanted to make a white t-shirt because a white t-shirt is timeless and felt very poetic and I knew it wouldn’t really fit .I really don’t like to fit in,” the Grammy winner, 28, told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet.
