Kathryn Newton Has a Crush on a ‘Handsome Corpse’ Played by Cole Sprouse in Lisa Frankenstein Trailer

Jennifer’s body writer Diablo Cody has a dark new teen comedy coming soon.

Focus Features debuted the first trailer for Lisa Frankenstein on Thursday, with Kathryn Newton as Lisa Swallows and Cole Sprouse as The Creature in Zelda Williams’ film.

It is described as “arrival-anger love story,” Lisa Frankenstein is about “a misunderstood teenage girl and her high school crush, who happens to be a hot corpse,” according to the synopsis.

“After a series of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness…and a few missing body parts along the way.”

The cast also includes Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest and Carla Gugino.

Screenwriter Cody (45) won an Oscar in 2008 for Juno. She has since written the cult comedy from 2009 Jennifer’s body starring Megan Fox, plus Charlize Theron movies A young adult (2011) and Tully (2018), among other projects.

Lisa Frankenstein is the feature directorial debut for Williams, 34, whose father is the late actor-comedian Robin Williams.

Cole Sprouse stars as The Creature and Kathryn Newton stars as Lisa Swallows in LISA FRANKENSTEIN, a Focus Features release.

Last year, Williams expressed her excitement for the project, tweeting at the time, “I know Hollywood gets a bad rap for churning out sequels and remakes and reboots over and over and over again…and yes, it’s totally true!”

“But,” she continued, “it’s also finally allowing me to do the craziest, most beautiful zombie script I’ve ever read, and for that I’ll be forever grateful!”
