A painful defeat
Jurjen van der Velde was painful in the final of the World Youth Championship.
The youngster missed five darts for the title before compatriot Gian van Veen took his first chance to seal glory.
Van der Velde was left in tears on the stage at the end of the match, comforted by his rival.
A win would secure his place in today’s draw for the World Cup.
But he must instead be one of the four to go through the PDPA qualifiers.

Cash is king
Luke Humphries and Luke Littler enjoy an incredible rivalry.
Both have earned more than £1 million in prize money in 2024.
Littler is on £1.1m, with Humphries ahead of him on £1.2m.
They also won 17 titles between them.
Given their age, the two will clash for years to come. What a time to be alive.
Humphries reacts
Luke Humphries made it back-to-back triumphs in the Players Championship final with an 11-7 win over teenage sensation Luke Littler.
Speaking after the match, he said: “Honestly, I’m really proud of it.
“I didn’t feel like I was playing this week, I felt like I was behind in a lot of scenarios, but there’s something that Luke does to you.
“He really motivates me, he makes me be a better player and I enjoy playing with him.
“He let me go really early in that first session to take a 4-1 lead, I never looked back and I’m proud that I didn’t take my foot off the gas. These big matches are what I live for.
“Luke is a special talent and he was right – I told him I had to get this [titles] early before he conquers them all.
“I’d love to be up here hitting 105 average like Luke all the time, but he’s a different calibre, he’s probably the best player in the world right now, but there’s something about me that never gives up.
“This is a great way to go to worlds.”
