dispute
INX media issues
In 2007, INX News chairman Indrani Mukerjea had a dispute with the company’s chief executive Vir Sanghvi over control, leading to Sanghvi’s resignation in January 2008. Mukerjea subsequently fired five NewsX journalists, leading to more resignations and complaints to government officials about INX Media funding. This sparked legal action against NewsX for the unfair dismissal of two journalists.
INX Media Survey
After Sanghvi left INX News, many talented people also left NewsX. The Mukerjeas family has since sold INX Media to Indi Media Network, which is partly owned by Vinay Chhajlani. Meanwhile, a 2013 SFIO report exposed INX News’ links with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited and Nai Dunia, prompting the SFIO to take legal action over questionable share sales and other irregularities.
Financial investigation resumed
In 2010, the Enforcement Directorate began investigating three Mauritian companies for transferring funds to INX Media without proper approval. The investigation was stopped in 2013, but in 2014, tax authorities found evidence that the Mukherjee family was moving large amounts of money through Mauritius. In 2015, the Enforcement Directorate announced plans to reopen the case.

The CBI alleged that she and her husband Peter Mukerjea transferred funds from INX Media to offshore accounts in Sheena Bora’s name, which may have been the reason for her murder. Sheena was also dating Peter’s son from a previous marriage, but Indrani disagreed.
