Porter graduated from Yale and Harvard Law schools and has taught law at numerous universities, including the University of California, Irvine, the William S. Katie Porter was born on January 3, 1974 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She grew up on a farm in southern Iowa. Her father, Dan Porter, was a farmer who later became a banker. She has become a household name among liberal Democrats on social media and announced Tuesday that she will run for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat in 2024. Ms. Porter, 49, is the first named challenger. Ms. Feinstein declined to serve as Senate president pro tem last year after receiving harsh criticism during Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearing before the Supreme Court.
