Kavita Jain’s husband Rajiv Jain is an Indian politician and was appointed as Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Harbin in 2018 Media consultant Manohar Lal Khattar. He also served as media advisor to former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal from 1996 to 1999.
They have a daughter and a son. Their daughter Khwaish Jain graduated from the University of Kent in the UK in 2022.

In 2009, Kavita Jain joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and ran in the Haryana Assembly elections in Sonipat constituency, defeating Anil Kumar Thakar of the Indian National Congress by 2,657 votes. In 2014, she contested from the same constituency, defeating Dev Raj Diwan of the Indian National Congress by 25,810 votes. On October 26, 2014, she was handed over to the following Cabinet Ministries of the Government of Haryana:
- minister of women and child development
- minister of social justice and empowerment
- Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes
On July 22, 2016, she became the Urban Local Bodies Minister, Government of Haryana. In 2019, she contested for the third consecutive time from Sonipat constituency, but lost to Surender Panwar of the Indian National Congress by 32,878 votes.
