- Kavya and Dileep have done more than 18 films together, which often leads the audience to believe that they are both a couple. When Dileep divorced his wife Manju Warrier in 2015, Kavya was held responsible. Kavya has been accused of being the “other woman” in their lives, although Kavya and Dileep have always denied their relationship.
- In 2016, Dilip and Kavya got married in a private ceremony at the Vedanta Hotel in Kochi. Dileep has since made some controversial remarks about his marriage to Kavya, after which he has been called a “sexist” and “macho chauvinist”. Dileep said in the interview——
When I felt I should get married, my daughter, mother, relatives and friends sat together and we made the decision. My “koottukaari” (friends) are constantly gossiped about because of me. So I thought it wouldn’t be right if I married someone else (laughs). Therefore, this decision…” While Dileep was criticized like a misogynist, Kavya was accused of being a silent bystander, completely submissive in his presence.
- On the night of February 17, 2017, an actress working in a Tamil and Telugu cinema was abducted and allegedly molested in her car. The incident created a huge stir in the film industry and big names like Dileep and his wife Kavya also came to the fore. Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the case, called Kavya “ma’am” and she gave him money to attack the actress. However, he also said that the “lady” only gave him money and had nothing to do with the case.
