Kelly Clarkson Debuts New Wispy Bangs on The Kelly Clarkson Show

Kelly Clarkson is changing her hairstyle!

The American Idol alum showed off her new hairstyle on The Kelly Clarkson Show Monday, where she was seen rocking her new wispy face-framing bangs.

Clarkson, 41, styled her new hairstyle with a black off-the-shoulder top and a gold pleated skirt. She completed the look with a gold necklace and a pair of gold earrings.

During Monday’s episode, Clarkson was joined Saturday night live alum Leslie Jones, vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder and special education teacher for Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” duet.

Clarkson’s makeover isn’t the “Stronger” singer’s last change. She moved from Los Angeles to New York before the premiere of the fifth season of her series.

“I’ve been very depressed for the last three years — and maybe a little before that, if I’m being honest. I think I really needed a change,” Clarkson told PEOPLE last week.

She added that it has been beneficial for her entire family, noting the positive change for her children, River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7.

I needed it for me and my family, she said. “My kids are thriving here. We’re just doing a lot better and we needed a fresh start.”

Clarkson continued: “I think we’re kind of attached and you feel like you have to go on and smile at others.”

The move also comes after Clarkson’s divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was finalized in March 2022. They were married for nearly seven years.

“You can only share so much, you know? And I’m really good at it, but you can only do it for so long,” Clarkson told PEOPLE.

She went on to express her love for New York, adding: “It was amazing. The energy of it is very me.”

One of her favorite things about the city is that she’s never mobbed by a large crowd of fans, the Texas native noted.

“That’s what I love about New Yorkers. Everyone has their own life. They say, ‘Yours isn’t more important than mine, so have a nice day,'” she said.

“All celebrities should know that. When you live here, people recognize you, but they’re just like, ‘Oh, hey, what’s up?’ And then they keep walking. It’s amazing,” joked Clarkson.

While Clarkson and her children now “genuinely” love New York, she admitted USA Today that at first she had some reservations about the move.

“I’ll be honest: I thought I was making a terrible decision,” Clarkson said USA Today in October. “I knew I needed a fresh start and I couldn’t be in LA. I really wanted to be in Montana, but you still can’t do a show there. So I said, ‘The only other option would probably be New York.'”
