“That moment was a door that opened so many approaches and opportunities, and creative partnerships that I will be grateful for the rest of my life,” she continued. “The family and friendships I’ve made over these 20 years in music and television are priceless to me.”

Clarkson added: “We only have so many trips around the sun and while I’m proud and feel abundantly blessed by the successes and failures I’ve learned from, I’m most proud and grateful for those friends who have become family, and their hands that held me when I needed that and their hearts that listened to me when I felt lost.”

“Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am. I probably wouldn’t be here at all,” she said at the time.
