Kelly Osbourne opens up about the film director who told her she was “too fat” as a child.
Tuesday, May 21 episode The Osbournes podcastthe 39-year-old told her family about the insult and how she needs to lose weight in order to be successful.
“When I was a kid, I would sneak up on the head of the agency’s office and he would put golf balls in a cup and give me a whole speech about how I was too fat for TV and that I needed to lose weight, and that if I lost weight, I would look better,” she remembered.
The TV personality, who chose not to publicly name the executive, said the incident happened after she was cast in the 2003 Disney adaptation. Crazy Friday starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.
“I just booked a movie with Lindsay Lohan, Crazy Friday. I wanted to play her best friend, but then it was right before my mom was diagnosed with cancer, so I gave up,” she explained. “And he just kept saying, ‘You’re not a movie star, but you could be if you lose weight.’ ”
Her brother Jack, 38, was quick to chime in, saying it was “the biggest s— ever.”
“I know,” Kelly agreed. “While putting golf balls in a cup in his office. And I’m just, like, this is the most offensive dick—— [thing].”

Kelly has been vocal about some of the body-shaming comments she’s received over the years.
As a guest on Scheananigans podcast in September 2023, the reality star admitted to host Scheana Shay that she kept a low profile during her pregnancy and “hid for nine months” to avoid any negative comments.
At the time, Kelly released sonogram photos showing only her face, prompting critics to question why. She responded by saying that she did not want to suffer the shame of having her child.
Despite the talk about her looks, Osbourne has been open about her weight gain and weight loss. In 2020, she spoke openly about her gastric sleeve procedure, stressing that there isn’t just one “right way” to achieve weight loss.
“The path to happiness is different for everyone. I think instead of splitting up the journey, you should be happy that you’ve reached your destination,” Osbourne said in an interview with Hollywood Raw with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn.
