Reading John Stamos’ memoir turned out to be a very emotional experience for Bob Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo.
Before the Stamos memoir If you had told me released Tuesday, Rizzo read an advanced copy and found the parts about her late husband particularly poignant.
“Stamos and I had a really great conversation the other day because his book is coming out,” Rizzo, 44, recently told PEOPLE while discussing her voluntary retirement from Fox Special forces: the toughest test in the world. “I’ve already read a ton of it, especially all the parts about Bob, and I called him from the car the other day. I had a PDF of it, and I was reading this last chapter detailing like that last day and all that stuff and I just lost it .”
She continues, “I called him to roar, and I just said, ‘John, that’s so beautiful. He would be so proud of you. This is so touching.’ And then he starts crying and crying.”

Rizzo calls his emotional conversation with Stamos a “beautiful exchange” and says it was “so special to honor Bob.”
“It was really moving,” she explains. “[It’s nice] just that I need to call him and know that he will always be there and still is. I mean, he’s always thinking about Bob and talking about Bob and writing about Bob.”

As for the rest of Saget’s Full house family, the founder of Eat Travel Rock knows she can count on their support no matter what. She also appreciates that they “keep his memory alive so much,” even more than a year after his death in January 2022.
“They’re still amazing,” she says. – I know that I could call any of them at any time and they would be there for me.
John Stamos vows to ‘Keep Loving’ and ‘Keep Hugging’ for Bob Saget a year after Costar’s death
Stamos, 60, told PEOPLE that his interest in writing the book was sparked after he wrote an emotional speech he gave at Saget’s memorial service. “The only reason I said ‘yes’ is because I was thinking of Bob,” he said.
“He never left anything on the table,” he added. “He always told you how much he loved you and how much he cared about you, proud of you. And I think we forget that.”
