A source told PEOPLE that the ‘Mea Culpa’ actress “left because she and her team didn’t like her wardrobe,” leaving the hit morning show scrambling to find a quick replacement
A behind-the-scenes mishap led to the sudden departure of Kelly Rowland from Todayresulting in Rita Ora stepping in to continue the game.
“Kelly left because she and her team didn’t like her wardrobe,” a source told PEOPLE. “Rita Ora agreed to stand in for her at the last minute. A lot of people at the show, inside and outside the show, were impressed with how great she was.”
A representative for Rowland did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, and a representative for Today declined to comment.

Page six was the first to report the news, pointing out that the singer of “Motivacije” was a guest in the morning program from 8 o’clock. Rowland, 43, was then set to replace Jenna Bush Hager in the fourth hour as guest host Today with Hoda and Jenna.
However, according to media reports, Rowland allegedly asked for the upstairs green room, but it was already occupied by Jennifer Lopez, who was there to promote her new album. This is me… nowand its accompanying Prime Video film.
The former Destiny’s Child member was unhappy with the dressing room offered and decided to leave the set at the last minute, leaving co-host Hoda Kotb to find a replacement.

Rowland is currently promoting her new Netflix film, Mea Culpa. Directed by Tyler Perry, the film follows a criminal defense attorney who takes on the case of a seductive artist accused of murdering his girlfriend, but things soon take a dangerous turn as a burning desire seeps into him.
