Kelsea Ballerini took the shot – and it paid off!
The country star, 30, has been very open about how she and her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, met (she went crazy in his DMs). Now she even made the message public.
In the final slide of her birthday tribute to Stokes, now 31, Ballerini included a screenshot of the pair’s first interaction.

“Hiii Chase Stokes,” Ballerini told the actor (a cheeky reference to his username @hichasestokes) on Instagram at 1:07 a.m. on Dec. 1, 2022.
Two hours later, Stokes replied: “Hey, how are you.”

The “Half of My Hometown” singer penned a birthday tribute featuring some sweet photos and videos of her and Foreign banks actor, “Happy birthday my sweet virgin.”
“My human ❤️,” Stokes replied to Saturday’s post.
Several users praised the singer-songwriter for the brave DM exchange, commenting things like, “For me you shot at 1:07am,” “I’m glad you showed how you shot and got what you got 😍❤️ and “The DM is just icing on the cake! So precious 🥹.”
The ballerina’s pals also shared their love for the happy couple on Stokes’ special day.
Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton wrote: “The God I love [u] 2,” and Chelsea Handler and Bobby Berk each commented with a few red heart emojis in the birthday tribute.

The country singer first shared the story of how she and Stokes met on Call her dad podcast in February.
She told the podcast hosts that she got into Stokes’ DMs after the two followed each other on Instagram.

“I’ve never seen his show, but I just knew about him and got involved right away,” she said.
Ballerini went on to explain that she approached her relationship with the actor, which began shortly after December’s DM, with a new perspective after filing for divorce from Morgan Evans last August after five years of marriage.

“I think I’ve finally grown up,” she said in the episode. “I think that’s just happened in the last couple of years, and I feel like that means I have my own opinion. I have a career that is my priority, to prove myself and the people I have connected with on this path. And I have aspirations and goals that are not tied to anyone, and these are all very important things.”
The “Miss Me More” singer added, “I got my s— together, you know what I mean?”

Earlier this month, Stokes shared a heartfelt tribute to Ballerina, who also has a birthday in September, on Instagram.
“Dirty 30 looks damn good on your ballerina flats. I love you ❤️,” he wrote on Instagram with a carousel of cute photos and videos of the couple.
“You really were 29 😍🥹🫶🫠,” replied the country singer — who spent her birthday performing at the MTV VMAs. “I love you Stokes.”
