Chesney has been living with news of this top honor for weeks, but obviously a public announcement has finally given the moment when she could completely absorb her.

“I know it’s not a dream,” he said. “It’s real and feels so real.”

June Carter Cash, two surviving children, Carlene Carter, 69, and John Carter Cash, 55, appeared in an announcement to accept the honor of their mother, who died in 2003 (daughter of Rosie “Rosie” Nix Adams died six months after her mother, from accidental carbon poisoning.

What took her so long?

An obvious reason is his husband’s monumental career. As Emcee Vince Gill pointed out in his introduction, no one more than Johnny Cash complained that his career overshadowed his wife.

“Johnny once said his wife is one of the most religious artists in country music:” Unfortunately, I think her contribution to country music will be insufficiently recognized simply because she is my wife, “Gill said, at the same time a member of the Hall of Fame. Today, this is changing as it occupies its legal place among family, friends and legends at the House of Fame Country Music. ”

In his introduction, Gill has found a multiple career of June Carter Casha, who earned her place as an induction veteran. She started singing on the radio as a child with the Carter family, a trail trio involving her mother Maybelle. After the Carter family broke up, she joined her mother and sisters Helen and Anita to become a quartet. She continued to act at Grand Ole Opry as a singer and comedian; Write songs (including classic husbands “Fire ring of”); And serve as a mentor to members of the next generation of stars, including Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings, both now in the celebrity house. Even in recent years, Carter Cash has won Grammys for his traditional recordings.

Apart from his career achievement, John Carter Cash said, he hopes his mother remembers as “great person” and as a woman of faith. “She always prayed,” he recalled. “You would see her moving her mouth and not going out, and I would ask her,” What are you doing, Mom? “” Please. ” She was always in touch with the spiritual. ”

Both son and daughter said I could only imagine how excited their mother would be that this day came.

And his father? “He would be like,” Well, it’s time, “he said, imitating the father of the famous baritone.
