Kerry Washington sings the praises of Jamie Foxx.
In the audiobook, an excerpt from her new memoir Thicker than water shared Entertainment WeeklyWashington, 46, recalled observing Foxx’s professionalism on set when the pair starred in 2004. Ray influenced how she approaches her own work even years later.
“Jamie is one of the most wonderful leading actors I have ever had the privilege of working with,” Washington wrote in the book, according to the publication. The actress noted that on film and television sets, the actor whose name is assigned at the top of the call list unofficially takes the lead role in the production.
“Years later, on the set Scandalwhenever someone complimented me on my leadership skills as number one on the call list, I always made sure to give Jamie credit for setting the best possible example,” Washington wrote of her first experience working with the now 55-year-old star. her.

Elsewhere in the audio excerpt of Washington’s book, the actress recalled the advice Foxx gave her as she struggled with a scene they shot a significant number of times.
“‘Keep looking,'” she remembered Foxx saying. “[He said] ‘You have to let it be different every time. Don’t try to make it what it was, just keep finding new things. Game.’ “

Ray it eventually proved Foxx’s breakthrough film role and earned him his first Academy Award. The film itself also won Best Sound Mixing at the 2005 Academy Awards, with a total of six nominations.
While Washington did not receive an Oscar nomination for her role in the film, Ray helped pave the way for her continued success in Hollywood over the past two decades. She and Foxx even reunited on the big screen some eight years later to star again as a married couple in the 2012 spaghetti western. Django Unchained.
