Kevin Clifton set to return to Strictly Come Dancing four years after quitting

Strictly Come Dancing fans will be delighted to know that ex-pro and champion Kevin Clifton is making a sensational return to the show.

Although he is not returning to the main show, the 40-year-old dancer – who announced his departure from the series in 2020 – will act as a resident choreographer in the spin-off series, Strictly: it takes two.

Kevin will replace his sister Joanne Clifton, who has the role of dance expert. During the conversation with Joanne, It takes twoNew host Fleur East said: “The choreography corner is a family affair this year, isn’t it Joanne?” To which the professional dancer replied: “Yeah, it’s someone called Kevin, I don’t know if you know him, he was second in 2016 when I won.”

Back in March 2020, Kevin shocked Strictly fans when he announced his departure after seven “wonderful years”. Just a year before, the dance favorite won the 2018 series with his now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley.

“Since Sir Bruce Forsyth first called me ‘Kevin From Grimsby’ in 2013, I’ve experienced the highlights of 5 finals, a Guinness World Record win on It Takes Two, a glitter ball on the Strictly Arena tour and then the ultimate series win in 2018 with Stacey Dooley,” he said at the time.

“Having finished the last series with the Children in Need trophy and the Christmas special, I want to go out on a high and therefore decided it was time to move on and focus on other areas of my life and career.”

Strictly Come Dating: couples who met on the dance floor

Besides Gemma and Gorka, there are several other couples in love who met during their time on Strictly

  • Janette Manrara and Aljaz Škorjanec met on Strictly in 2010, before marrying in 2017 and welcoming baby Lyra in 2023.

Kevin has yet to address his comeback, but over the weekend he couldn’t help but share a memory with one of his former dance partners, Susanna Reid. “Debuted on @bbcstrictly 10 years ago with @susannareid100,” he wrote on social media. “I’m in the US right now and can’t watch the series. Tell me everything!!”
