Khyali Saharan is an Indian comedian and politician and a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. He came into limelight after participating in the second season of the reality stand-up comedy series India Laughter Challenge aired on STAR One.

Khyali Saharan was born on Sunday, January 1, 1978 (45 years old; as of 2023) in 18 SPD Badopal village, Hanumangarh district, Rajasthan. His zodiac sign is Capricorn. He studied in a school in the village until fifth grade. Later, he went to a school in a nearby village to study in Class 10. During Class 10, he failed three times and decided to drop out. Thereafter, he moved to Sri Ganga Nagar in search of work. Sahara has been good at acting, singing, imitating and dancing since she was a child.

Profession
While in Sri Ganganagar, Khyali worked as a security guard at a swimming pool for about 5 to 6 months. Later, he started working at JCT Mills, Sri Ganganagar. While working in a cloth factory, Kayali met with an accident and seriously injured his right hand. He stayed in the hospital for about 13 months, during which time he underwent various surgeries. After undergoing treatment for his hand, Khyali rejoined the cloth factory and worked there for about 5 years. At the same time, he was also working part-time at Ganesh Cinema in Sri Ganganagar, selling tickets at the cinema. Soon he joined a theater troupe and wrote his first play, “Poster.” Sahara then collaborated with the group and started doing theatrical road shows and stage shows in various cities including Jaipur and Bikaner. Once, when he was performing a play in Jaipur, he got an opportunity to attend an acting workshop in Chandigarh. He then decided to move to Chandigarh where he started hosting various stage shows.

His comedy skills attracted various organizers and he went on to host Gurdas Maan, Jazzy B, Hans Raj Hans, Mika Singh ) and Daler Mehndi (Daler Mehndi) and many other famous singers’ stage performances. Khayali once earned Rs. 2000 rupees. 2500 per show. He worked as an anchor for about 5 years and in December 2005 he auditioned and was selected for the second season of the reality stand-up comedy show The Great Indian Challenge (aired on STAR One). He is the only contestant on the show who has been selected from North India. Rauf Lala emerged as the winner of the show while Khyali Saharan emerged as the second runner-up. While on the show, Kyari was offered a comedy role in the Bollywood film Mumbai to Goa: Laughter (2007). He subsequently played comic roles in several Bollywood films such as “Singh is King” (2008), “Meri Padosan” (2009), “Muskurake Dekh Zara” (2010), Bhavnao Ko Samjho (2010) and Marudhar Mharo Ghar (2014).

He has also acted in several Punjabi films such as “Mukhtiar Chadha” (2015), “JATT vs IELTS” (2018), “Ult Pult” (2020) and “Kulche Chole” (2022). He has also appeared in various other comedy shows such as Comedy Circus (aired on Sony Channel), Mazak Mazak Mein (aired on Life Ok), MAD in India (aired on Star Plus) and SAB TV Jokes.

In addition to being a comedian and politician, Kayali Sahara is an active philanthropist. In 2011, Sahara owned approximately 20 plots of land and Rs. Oasis Sainik School was established at 18 SPD Badopal village, Hanumangarh, Rajasthan at a cost of Rs 125 crore to prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for admission to the National Defense Academy. He is one of the school’s directors. Khyali often organizes free camps for physically disabled people.

Received a yellow card for rape
On March 14, 2023, a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against Khyali Saharan at the Mansarovar police station in Jaipur, alleging that he raped her in a hotel room in Jaipur’s Mansarovar area on the pretext of helping her find a job. After receiving the complaint, a case was registered against Khyali under Section 376 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code. Apparently, this incident occurred on March 13, 2023. According to police, Khayali booked two rooms at a hotel, one for himself and the other for two women who approached Khayali a month ago seeking help with their jobs. In the evening, Kayali called the women to his room and offered them beer. When they refused, he forced them to drink beer and started drinking it himself. Later, when one of the women left the room, he allegedly raped the other women while in a drunken state.
