Kiefer Sutherland leads the exciting new courtroom drama.
PEOPLE exclusively presents the first trailer for Caine Mutiny Court Martialthe last film by director William Friedkin, who died in August at the age of 87. The Oscar winner is known for films like French connection and The exorcist.
The film also stars Jason Clarke, Jake Lacy, Monica Raymund, Lewis Pullman, Jay Duplass, Tom Riley and Lance Reddick. Reddick, of Wire and John Wick fame, he died in March at the age of 60.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Herman Wouk, Caine Mutiny Court Martial coming up naval attorney Barney Greenwald (Clarke), who “defends Lt. Steve Maryk (Lacy), the first Navy officer to take control of USS Caine by his commanding captain Lieutenant Philip Francis Queeg (Sutherland) during a fierce sea storm in hostile waters.”

However, during the high-stakes trial, “Greenwald becomes increasingly concerned and questions whether the events on board Cain they were considered a real mutiny or simply the brave deeds of a group of sailors who did not trust their unstable leader.”

The film premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival earlier this year.
Sutherland, 56, remembered the late director Friedkin in a statement to Deadline in August, saying, “Working with William Friedkin was one of the great honors of my career.”

Caine Mutiny Court Martial will premiere streaming and on-demand for all SHOWTIME and Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers on October 6, before debuting on SHOWTIME on October 8 at 9:00 PM ET.
