At the end of his speech, he joked that he wanted more children as his wife laughed from her seat. “You said maybe, if I win!” he added.

After his speech, Culkin clarified to reporters that he had been asking his wife about having more children “for some time.” “Jazz said, ‘Maybe if you win an Emmy,'” he recalled. “I didn’t mention it for months, and then when I won the Globes, I said, ‘Do you remember what you said?’ And she said, ‘What? No. What did I say? I don’t remember this.'”

“I told her so, and then it all came back to her,” he continued. “So she spent the whole week nervous.”

In conversation with Taika Waititi for Interview last year, Culkin opened up about balancing his work and home life while filming the project in Poland.

“I have a 1 1⁄2-year-old and a 3 1⁄2-year-old, and we’ll be jumping around Poland. I don’t like being away from them for more than two days, and it’s not practical for me to have them all the time,” he said.

He went on to recall a conversation with a friend who had to travel away from his children for months at a time, saying, “I remember thinking, ‘You must have a very disconnected relationship with them.’

“Then I see him with his kids, and they’re still very close. I guess there’s just an understanding that dad has to go away for a long time. But I saw it and I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’ There’s still a chance to be a good parent and be connected to your kids even if you’re busy,’ Culkin said, adding, ‘But then again, my kids are between 1 and 3 years old. I have to be at home because if I go away for a week, they change.”
