He made his acting debut in the Hindi film Mitti in 2001, playing the role of Qasma. He has played supporting roles in several Hindi films including Darna Mana Hai (2003), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Dhamaal (2007), Happy New Year (2014), Jawaani Jaaneman (2020) and Angrezi Medium (2020).
He made his debut in the Hindi television serial Hatim in 2003. He gained great popularity for his role as Hobo in the serial.
He was very popular for his role as Constable Mulayam Singh Gulgule in the SAB TV comedy show FIR (2006). In 2013, he participated in the sixth season of Nach Baliye along with his wife Priyanka Sharda.

On January 13, 2016, Kiku was arrested for imitating Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. He was arrested under Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code for “deliberate and malicious act intended to insult religious feelings”.
In 2019, Bollywood art director Nitin Kulkarni accused him of defrauding Rs 5.07 crore. Nitin filed a case against six people, including comedian Kiku Sharda, who was associated with the charitable trust The Mumbai Fest.
