He played baseball there for four years, as part of the varsity team. During his time, he was named team captain twice, earned All-Conference honors three times and made the All-Academic Team four times. After high school, Beck decided to attend Stanford University to continue playing baseball for the Stanford Cardinal. His senior year at Corona High was particularly impressive, as he posted a 7-1 win-loss record with a super-low 0.65 earned run average (ERA). He struck out 82 batters and walked just 18 in 65 innings.
During his high school career, Beck compiled a 19–4 record with a stellar 1.23 ERA. He even threw two no-hitters, which are games where the opposing team doesn’t get a single hit. In 2019, Beck was traded to the Florida Fire Frogs, where he had a mixed season, posting a 2-2 record with a 5.65 ERA in eight starts. He later returned to the Gulf Coast League Braves for two more starts before being traded to the San Francisco Giants on July 31, 2019, along with Daniel Winkler, in exchange for Mark Melancon.
