Killer Mike took home one of the biggest awards of the night at this year’s BET Awards.

The Grammy winner was honored with album of the year at Sunday’s awards show in Los Angeles for his album MICHAEL.

“I’m a representation of one of the best things God ever created – and that’s half of the black family. Black men and women – I’m you, whether you’re young, whether you’re old, whether you like me or not “, He said. “I am absolutely you, and this victory is absolutely ours.”

Finally, before leaving the stage, the rapper reflected on his political experience and encouraged the audience to vote.

Killer Mike’s victory comes just days after it was announced that he would not face charges for his arrest on the night of the Grammy Awards. Back in February, the rapper was led away from the awards show in handcuffs just moments after winning best rap song and best rap performance for “Scientist & Engineers” and best rap album, also for Michael.
