A source told the broadcaster: “His treatment is going in a positive direction.

“As a controlled condition, the treatment cycle will continue next year.”

The king, who is still considered a “newly minted monarch” compared to his mother’s record-breaking tenure, has endured a difficult second year as sovereign.

He was diagnosed with cancer and had to deal with ongoing treatment, while his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, was also being treated for the condition.

But a source said brave Charles has tackled the past year with a “determination to be as much in the public eye as possible” to reassure the nation how much more he can do.

He was also encouraged by the support of Queen Camilla.

A source said: “Her natural warmth, resilience and sense of humour, as any patient will tell you, is a wonderful thing.

“Of course this has been a stressful year for Her Majesty too, but there has never been a sense of despondency, just a determination to see through this, as with so many other challenging issues in the past.”

Yesterday, Kate and Wills skipped King Charles’ pre-Christmas lunch – after Andrew pulled out over an alleged Chinese spy scandal.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were in Norfolk as planned.

The Sun has exclusively revealed that insiders have invited Andrew to “call in” from a pre-holiday family dinner.

He was due to attend a palace lunch but a source said: “He is under pressure to step down.”

It comes just days after the Duke of York said he would not be joining the royal family at Sandringham for the usual celebrations on Christmas Day.

It is understood his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, has also pulled out of the Norfolk ceremony.

Rumor has it that the couple will be staying at the Royal Lodge in Windsor during that time.

GREEN King Charles has built a solar farm so the sun’s rays power his 150-room country house.

Our exclusive image shows 2,000 solar panels lined up in a former horse paddock at Sandringham.

They cover 2.3 hectares and will generate enough energy to heat and light the main house and buildings on the Norfolk estate.

Any surplus will be returned to the National Grid.

The King already has solar panels on the roof of Windsor Castle where he has reduced the heating as he aims to make the Royal Household net zero by 2030.

He installed a smart meter in Balmoral, his cars are electric and two Bentleys in the royal fleet are being converted to run on biofuel.

A source said: “The King has been talking about tackling climate change for decades.

“He practices what he preaches and does everything he can.”

A planning application for solar panels at Sandringham for King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council noted that they are “well protected” by existing vegetation.

It is expected to last 40 years when they will be removed and the field returned to grazing.
