King Charles Says He’s ‘All Right… Just About’ amid Royal Book Controversy

King Charles revealed how he was feeling during a solo trip to Dubai days after the announcement Game over.

On Thursday, the king began his visit to the city in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP28 for short. The trip started two days after the publication of Omid Scobie’s book Endgame: Inside the royal family and the monarchy’s fight for survival. It has since been revealed that the Dutch translation of the book names members of the royal family involved in the conversation, which included a controversial comment about the skin color of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Prince Archie, now 4, before he was born.

In separate statements to PEOPLE, which were originally excerpted Game over, Scobie and the Dutch publishers said the names were “a mistake”. Buckingham Palace had no comment.

Despite the current controversy, Charles, 75, was all smiles in Dubai on Thursday during a meeting with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, Game over is temporarily withdrawn from the shelves.

The Dutch translation of the book, which was published on Tuesday and describes the disintegration of the royal family and the weakening of the modern monarchy, reportedly names people who made controversial comments about the skin color of Harry and Meghan’s child before he arrived.

It is not clear if the Dutch translation is incorrect or if the translation is based on an earlier draft. (The English version of the book does not list the names of family members.)

The Dutch publishers call it a “mistake” and say in a statement to PEOPLE: “The corrected edition of Omid Scobie’s Eindstrijd will be in bookstores on Friday, December 8. Xander Uitgevers has temporarily withdrawn the book from sale due to an error that occurred in the Dutch edition.”
