Lyssa Chapman was born in Denver, Colorado, in the United States on June 10, 1987, she was one of twelve children of Duane “Dog” Chapman, the ninth in order of birth. Because her mother, Lyssa Rae Brittain, was also named Lyssa, she was sometimes referred to as Baby Lyssa. Her father took care of her until she was 10 years old, and then she moved to live with him in a small village in Alaska. She could not get in touch with her father for ten years.
