Sabeer Bhatia was born on Monday, December 30, 1968, in Chandigarh, India (age 54 years 2022). He grew up in Bangalore. Sabbir attended St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School in Bangalore and Bishop’s School in Pune. In 1986, he began his studies at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) in Pilani, India, and transferred to Caltech two years later. He moved to the United States in 1989 and received a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

In August 1995, Bhatia and Smith began looking for funding for a web-based personal database called “JavaSoft.” Later, while pursuing this idea, they realized the possibilities of a web-based email system and founded Hotmail on July 4, 1996. Sabeer is actively involved in Hotmail’s product development. He played a key role in shaping the features and functionality of web-based email services. In 1997, Sabeer Bhatia participated in the negotiation and acquisition of Hotmail by Microsoft. In an interview, Sabeer talked about Microsoft’s acquisition of Hotmail and said:
Bill Gates scared me: Hotmail already had 10 million subscribers when Microsoft proposed. Bill Gates terrified me the first time I met him. Slowly, I discovered that others are very nice. Negotiations went on and on. In the end, Microsoft offered $400 million, more than double its original offer. “

After leaving Hotmail, Bhatia founded Arzoo Inc. The company specializes in travel search technology. Arzoo was designed to simplify and enhance the online travel booking experience, but the company shut down in 2001.Nonetheless, Sabeer has launched an updated version and relaunched Arzoo.com to provide customers with domestic or international flight bookings, hotel bookings, planning vacations, etc.

In 2007, Bhatia founded Live Documents, a web-based productivity offering that provides all the features of Microsoft Office 2007, for free. Live Documents is developed by Bengaluru-based InstaColl, in which Sabeer holds a stake. In 2008, Sabeer Bhatia co-founded Sabse Technologies Inc. Sabse (also known as SabseBolo Technologies) is a communications technology company focused on providing affordable and easy-to-use communications systems, especially in emerging markets. Sabse Technologies aims to connect people through voice, video and messaging services to meet the needs of individuals, businesses and communities. In 2018, Ratan Tata also invested in Sabeer Bhatia’s Sabse Technology.
Xircom SMS
In January 2008, Sabeer Bhatia and Yogesh Patel launched a chat application called JaxtrSMS for mobile users. The app is designed to allow users to send free text messages to friends and family around the world without any registration. The company was later acquired by Sabse Technologies in 2009 and began operations in Latin America, the United States and Europe. More than 15 million people worldwide have signed up for the app. However, in India, the government does not allow voice over IP services to be provided to consumers due to national security reasons.

The Haryana government along with Sabeer Bhatia came up with the concept of nano cities in India. The project aims to build a Silicon Valley-like city in northern India. The metropolis is planned to be built on 11,000 acres of land near Panchkula. But later the development area was reduced. In this public-private partnership project, Sabeer Bhatia owns 52%, the government holds 10%, while a real estate company called Parsvnath Developers Ltd acquired 38% in 2008.

He claims to have created a video version of Linkedin. It becomes an ecosystem for entrepreneurs.
