Married for almost two decades
Kirsten and her husband have been married for almost two decades. They originally met at Brigham Young University, where they both studied. In an interview with Screen Rant, her husband said that his relationship advice would be loyalty and putting the pettiness aside. And his most important advice is to acquire selflessness. It’s not so much about surrendering what you want as it is about realizing that you don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t pet the sweaty object.
He further suggested that concentrating on what you like about them and moving in that direction helps to improve the relationship since there is a lot of pleasure in sticking to it and focusing on what is good.
Motivation to leave Hollywood
Kirsten and her family moved from Los Angeles to the Pacific Northwest and are enjoying themselves so far. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, her husband said that as a child he longed to work in the entertainment industry and dreamed of creating creative things. It wasn’t about becoming a big celebrity, though. However, he gained more attention and recognition with Napoleon Dynamite.
When he had to deal with popularity, he started to let it worry him more and it seeped into his brain. He finally realized that he couldn’t let it upset him anymore. Heder is overjoyed to be able to continue working in this field while feeling as normal as possible. He said that he and his wife are raising their children in the most natural way possible. Similarly, Michael Rosenbaum mentioned on the Inside Of You Podcast that he felt like a permanent outsider after moving to Hollywood the entire time he lived there, but not in a terrible way. He accepted and enjoyed it, which set him apart a little.
Kirsten believes that family should be a priority because it will be for life.
She and her husband spoke on the “In Love Podcast” in 2019, where they discussed how to balance and maintain a good married life, as well as the importance of putting family first. Kirsten and Jon first met in 2001. They started dating in 1999 and married in 2002. According to Kirsten, when they first met, they were both poor and stealing food from Jon’s grandparents’ house.
When they were not at home, they went there. Jon began filming Napoleon Dynamite a little over a year after their wedding. Kirsten said their goal is to prioritize family above all else, adding that everything in business is temporary and goes up and down, but family is long-term. He will stay there for the rest of his life. He believes that family should be a priority. Also, the reason they put family first is because family is what you have for the rest of your life, and if you don’t have it, you’ll have nothing after this is all over. Kirsten also said that while they were producing Napoleon, she got her first big job out of college and was overjoyed because she was making more money than she expected.
She remembered how Jon had told her to do Napoleon and she had told him to go because she was the one making the money. She was overjoyed to come to support her husband, and she saw the film for the first time at Sundance. They also said that they are extremely private, but that they do not feel the need to publicly state everything they do or what their family does. They keep it all in the house. He agrees that she doesn’t want to be the center of attention because he wants her to feel relaxed, but there are times when he says, “I want to share this with you.” Jon expressed his delight at Kirsten saying, “This is my wife and I’m completely happy with her, the way she looks, the way she is and what she stands for.” He went on to say that he wants everyone to know, but also wants to keep it private.
