Family horrified after spotting chilling detail in the background of their beach photo… can you see it?

A FAMILY were left stunned when they spotted a chilling detail in the background of their beach photo.

The snap, taken by the sea in Melbourne, Australia, shows a dad and his young daughter waving at the camera.

But when they returned home, they noticed a sinister looking shape in the water behind them – thought to be a shark’s fin.

The resurfaced photo was taken at Carrum Beach – and a shark sighting was reported the same day at the neighbouring bay.

Rescue unit SES Chelsea posted on Facebook: “We posted about a shark sighting, just off the beach, between Bonbeach and Chelsea.

“Well later, we received a message from a family, who follow our page, who were at Carrum Beach, earlier in the morning.

“It was their little one’s first visit to the beach, and the gentleman’s partner grabbed a couple of snaps to record the day.

“Later, when they got home, and looked at the pictures, they noticed something in the shallow water, just behind them, was this our shark?”

Viewers were left divided over whether the shape was a shark’s fin or not.

One user said: “Couldn’t be a very big one, given the size of the dog and the depth of the water.”

Another wrote: “Looks a bit shallow for a shark that would have a fin that size judging by where the dog and guy to the left is standing.

“Wouldn’t the other guy behind them have noticed?”

A third commented: “I agree that it can’t be discounted – but it’s highly unlikely that a shark cruising in the shallows would not be seen and those in the photo not aware.”

It comes after a great white shark the “size of a boat” was spotted swimming dangerously close to a popular tourist beach – sparking a public alert.

The huge 13ft beast was seen prowling the coastline near Aldinga Beach just south of Adelaide on Saturday morning.

In a clip taken by fishermen from their vessel, the shark can be seen circling the boat below the water’s surface just under half a mile from the shore.

They managed to work out the shark’s size after comparing the creature to their boat.

The great white was spotted before lifeguards were in attendance and police were called in to warn beachgoers against entering the water.
