Kodi Ramakrishna is an Indian film director and screenwriter of South Indian films, mainly Telugu. He is famous for his movies like Arundhati (2009), Gudachari No.1 (1983), Murali Krishnadu (1988), Muddula Menalludu, Ankusham, etc.

Ramakrishna was born on July 23, 1955 in Palakollu, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh (age at time of death: 63). He was educated at Andhra University, Andhra Pradesh.

Profession
In 1982, he made his directorial debut in Tollywood with “Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya”. His career lasted nearly 3 years. During this period, he directed more than 100 films. Apart from being a director, Ramakrishna is also a successful screenwriter and actor. He starred in several films such as Mudilla Muchata (1985), Attagaaroo Swagatam (1986), Inti Donga (1987), Aasti Mooredu Aasha Baaredu (1995) and Dongaata (1997).

Awards
In 2012, he was awarded the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for his contribution to the field of Telugu cinema. Apart from this, he has also received three Lifetime Achievement Awards, a Filmfare Award (1990), Tollywood Film Award (2009), etc.

Ramakrishna suffered from a heart attack and paralysis a few years ago, but due to proper treatment, he soon fully recovered. On February 21, 2019, Ramakrishna felt restless and complained of breathing difficulties. He is admitted at AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. He is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and on a ventilator (life support system). However, his health deteriorated and he eventually died of kidney failure on the afternoon of February 22, 2019.
