Mom Kardashian-Jenner, who stars in Oreo’s 2024 Super Bowl ad, talked to PEOPLE about star status since ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ aired
Kris Jenner tries her hand at time travel.
The Kardashian-Jenner matriarch, 68, stars in Oreo’s 2024 Super Bowl ad, which takes her back to the mid-2000s before Keeping up with the Kardashians broadcasted.
“Oh, we had the best time. It was so much fun to do because it goes back in time and really, you know, a 2007 retrospective,” she tells PEOPLE. “It was fun to shoot because it’s my first Super Bowl commercial, and when I was younger and I watched the Super Bowl, it was always a lot of fun to watch the commercials and it became something that everyone really looked forward to.”
The slogan of the ad is “twist on it”. Instead of flipping a coin, fate determines which side of the Oreo the cream falls on. Through the commercial, various historical and fictional decisions are reimagined by showing what it would be like if people made key decisions with the help of Oreo. From the guards who release the Trojan Horse into Troy to the authorities who decide to cover up alien sightings, the ad features them all “turning around” to help them make important decisions.

Perhaps the most groundbreaking historical moment of all is when the ad shows a flashback of Jenner in the mid-2000s, when she’s deciding whether her family should star in their iconic reality TV show.
In the video, she answers a business call in a red jacket. “So every little detail about our family will be on TV? Who would watch that? Okay, let me turn,” she says in the clip above. “I hope you can continue!”
Jenner told PEOPLE that there were some fun Easter eggs hidden in the ad, including her look and throwback hairdo.

“That was one of my original jackets – we archive all our looks. So it was really fun to pull out something from 2007 and have fun with it—a Balmain blazer,” she says. “And the hair was so fun to go back to. [to].”
He admits that thinking back brought a certain level of creepiness, but in the best possible way.
“Some of the things I look back on when I think about recording Keeping up with the Kardashians If you look back and think, ‘Oh, the hair!’ or, ‘Oh my God, those clothes!’ It’s kind of funny. So it’s fun to relive some of those silly moments,” she says.
For Jenner, partnering with Oreo, which she calls her “favorite cookie,” was a natural fit. He even bonds with his daughter Khloé Kardashian.

“Oreos have always been a part of my family, but it became really special when Khloé started making these cookie jars at her house over ten years ago,” he says. (In the Oreo ad teaser, Jenner used the cookie-stacking technique Khloé made famous.)
“I think probably 20 years ago she started making all these magical little structures with cookies… and Oreos were one of the stars in her kitchen. Everyone would go over to Khloé’s and eat Oreos because she organized them perfectly and it was so pretty in a jar,” Jenner explains.
He adds: “And so the other day she said to me: ‘Mom, I think you hijacked my Oreo idea.’ So it’s kind of funny because I’m doing this commercial and she’s the one decorating Oreos in the kitchen for 20 years.”
After getting to recreate her mid-2000s days in a Super Bowl commercial, Kris also reflects on what she and her family have learned since signing on Keeping up with the Kardashians.
“Just live in every moment and enjoy it because it’s a real blessing to be in the position we’re in and we’re having a really good time,” she says. “And just joy that we can always work together as a family. It never gets old.”

If there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in the past 17 years, it’s Jenner’s motivation to work out.
“I’ve been saying that since 2007, people would say, ‘What’s the best part of making the show?’ And I would say, ‘I have to get up every day and work with my family,’ and it really doesn’t get any better than that,” she says. “I think the older I get, the more I appreciate it. I think it’s simple to be grateful for every opportunity and all the moments we can share. It was really special.” Jenner’s full 30-second Oreo ad is set to air in the second quarter of the big game. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off in Super Bowl LVIII, which will air on CBS on February 11th at 6:30pm ET.
