Kristin Cavallari says her relationship with her “narcissistic father” led her to experiment with drugs and alcohol at a young age – and that cutting him out of her life was “the best thing I ever did”.
During an appearance on the December 30th episode of the Bunnie XO podcast, stupid blonde, Cavallari, now 37, said: “For so long I was ashamed of my childhood and my ways of partying and stuff, and now I fully embrace it.”
“I started smoking weed in the eighth grade. I started drinking. I snuck out. I was young,” the Very Cavallari the alum said. It was this kind of behavior that led her from the suburbs of Chicago where she lived with her mother to move to her father in a Californian beach town where she would star in an MTV hit Laguna Beach.

The Uncommon founder James said her then-boyfriend would “drive his golf cart over to my house and pick me up”, saying they were “just animals”.
“Drots took me home in the eighth grade. It’s, like, all the typical stuff…school rejection,” she said, saying she was drawn to “that group of children” because “I had a lot of trauma”.
“My escape was to start drinking and doing drugs, and the only way I found a relationship was with my boyfriend. I had no connection at home. And so I discovered it with my boyfriend and all my friends.”
When Bunnie asked, “Was it just a rough relationship with the parents?” Cavallari explained: “My dad is a narcissist. A typical narcissist.”

“There are so many layers to it. It’s so complicated…. It’s really disgusting,” said Cavallari, who moved in with her father when she was a freshman in high school. “I actually cut my dad out of my life a few years ago, which is the best thing I’ve ever done, honestly. ”
“I had a narcissistic father growing up, and then my parents’ divorce, my father, some sexual trauma with a few different men in my life, and just, you know, like one thing after another,” she said, explaining that “I’m just looking for any connection, also output. That was the reason why I took the path I took.”
She did not contact her father, Hills alum said, was “the last thing I needed to do on my healing journey” – even though she worried she would have “bad karma” for severing her relationship with her father.
“I actually had a medium tell me, she said, ‘No, actually, that’s what you came to do in this life, is you can stand up for yourself and set boundaries and get him out of your life. ‘ ”
“It made me feel much better. I just confirmed everything,” she said. And these days, “I’m about to turn 38, and I finally feel like I’m in a good place with everything and I’m dealing with it.”
