The Queen of Versailles it’s getting closer to Broadway.
Last week, the producers of a new musical adaptation of Lauren Greenfield’s award-winning 2012 documentary — about socialite Jacqueline “Jackie” Siegel and husband David Siegel — announced the still-unfinished $100 million construction of the largest private home in America. will have its world premiere at Boston’s historic Emerson Colonial Theater this summer.
Starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth as Jackie and Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham as David, The Queen of Versailles will begin performances on Tuesday, July 16. The strictly limited five-week engagement runs through Sunday, August 18.

Kristin Chenoweth meets Jackie Siegel after she was cast in the musical ‘Queen of Versailles’
Like the documentary itself, the musical will explore the “true cost of fame, fortune and family” through the eyes of Jackie and David, whose dreams begin to crumble – along with their lavish lifestyles – as they build their grandiose mansion in Orlando, Florida amid the Great Recession from 2008 on the horizon.
“The American dream is still under construction,” reads the tagline for the musical in a trailer shared on social media.
Chenoweth, 55, reunites with acclaimed Academy Award-winning songwriter Stephen Schwartz for The Queen of Versaillesher former associate in Wicked. He is also the composer behind such beloved Broadway scores as Seed and God’s magicand contributed texts for a number of popular films such as Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Prince of Egypt and Enchanted.

The highly anticipated new musical — produced by Bill Damaschke and Chenoweth — also features a book by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly false bone, Amy and the orphans), and directed by Tony winner Michael Arden (Parade, Once on this island).
In addition to Chenoweth and Abraham, 84, The Queen of Versailles will also appear Here lies love’with Melody Butiu as Sofia Flores, and Kimberly AkimboNina White as Victoria Siegel. More cast and creative team members will be announced at a later date. Tickets for The Queen of Versailles will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, February 28th at 10am ET. Last March, PEOPLE shared an exclusive photo from Chenoweth’s meeting with Jackie Siegel, which took place backstage at Artis—Naples, Florida, a day after the musical’s industry reading was held in New York.
The duo were all smiles in the photo, with Chenoweth wearing a sparkly hot pink strapless dress. She completed the look with silver shoes, a matching chain necklace and pink stud earrings.
Meanwhile, Jackie, 58, donned a shimmering beige wrap dress with a hot pink “Queen of Versailles” gold-trimmed sash across the chest. The beauty and TV personality wore a white fluffy scarf, and she also wore brown heels and a diamond necklace with pink diamond details. A matching crown sat atop her head.
Fans hoping to complete Jackie’s home can get involved The Queen of Versailles reigns again, a 2022 reality series that follows Jackie and David as they work to complete the construction of their house. More than 20 years in the making, the 90,000-square-foot estate includes five kitchens, a 35-car garage, a 150-person dining room, a ballroom and a British-style pub.
The series is now airing on Max and Discovery+.
